Subject Content: Integrated Scientific Disciplines

The syllabus provides a broad foundation across biology, chemistry, and physics, along with earth and environmental sciences (Grade 6 to 11).

Biology

Covers **Plant and Animal Diversity**, biological processes, **nutrients in food**, and concepts related to **a healthy life**.

Chemistry

Includes **Atomic Structure**, **Acids and Bases**, **functions of water**, and the properties of various **materials**.

Physics

Focuses on **Static Electricity**, **generation of electricity**, **forms of energy and uses**, **Light, Sound, Heat**, and **Force and Motion**.

Earth and Environmental Science

Covers the **nature of the Earth**, **minerals and rocks**, **soil**, the **atmosphere**, **environmental resources**, and **pollution**.

Skill Development Focus

The course aims to develop scientific literacy, critical thinking, and practical skills for real-world application.

Scientific Inquiry and Practical Skills

Using **scientific methods to solve problems** and developing proficiency in the **proper use of laboratory instruments** (e.g., the microscope).

Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving

Logically and critically evaluating scientific information and applying knowledge to address **real-world challenges like pollution**.

Collaboration

Developing the ability to work effectively with others to solve scientific problems.

Assessment Structure (Total 200 Marks Before Scaling)

The assessment consists of two compulsory written papers, reported out of a final mark of 100 after scaling.

Paper I: Multiple Choice Questions

  • **Duration:** 1 hour
  • **Marks:** 80 marks (40% of total assessment)
  • **Format:** 40 compulsory Multiple Choice Questions (2 marks each) covering all syllabus components.
Paper II: Structured and Essay Questions

  • **Duration:** 2 hours and 15 minutes (with 10 min reading time)
  • **Marks:** 120 marks (60% of total assessment)
  • **Format:** **Part A** (4 compulsory structured questions) and **Part B** (answer 3 from 5 essay-type questions).
  • **Content Focus:** Tests knowledge, application, analysis, and evaluation across all syllabus topics.
